Dr. Robert Van Cleef enjoys identifying market opportunities with clients from the role of market strategy analyst. Dr. Van Cleef joined RNL full time in 2019 after being an associate consultant for market research and strategic enrollment planning for several years.
Formerly associate vice president of strategy and decision support at Gordon College (MA), he offers extensive experience in enrollment management, strategic planning, data-driven decision making, and website design. Dr. Van Cleef advised the college’s president and cabinet on competitive strategy, price strategy, planning, and execution of priority change initiatives. He also has experience coordinating the development of the college’s strategic marketing plan as well as its five-year strategic plan. Dr. Van Cleef also helped Gordon College recruit its largest class in school history while also improving the institution’s college ranking. Before coming to Gordon College, Dr. Van Cleef founded a website development company that worked with a number of Fortune 100 companies. His projects covered content management systems, e-marketing campaign tracking systems, and registration systems, among others.

Dr. Van Cleef has presented at RNL National Conferences and CCCU conferences on enrollment strategy. He is a co-author of Strategic Enrollment Planning: A Dynamic Collaboration.
Dr. Van Cleef holds a Doctor of Business Administration from George Fox University (OR). His research interest is price strategies in higher education. He holds an MBA from Amberton University (TX). He also holds a Master’s Certificate of Project Management from Boston University (MA), a professional certification from the Project Management Institute, and received his bachelor’s degree from Gordon College.
