Dan Preston

Dan Preston has more than 35 years of experience in higher education with extensive experience in financial aid, admissions, and enrollment management. Mr. Preston offers his clients expertise in scholarship and financial aid awarding, communication strategies, strategic enrollment planning, and marketing.

Previous campus experience

Mr. Preston worked most recently as the vice president for enrollment management at Linfield College in McMinnville, OR. During his time there he oversaw admission, financial aid, retention planning, institutional marketing, and orientation. Under his leadership, Linfield College achieved record enrollment levels multiple times, including enrolling the 10 largest first-year classes in the college’s history.

Prior to his promotion to the VP position, Mr. Preston was the director of financial aid at Linfield and before that served in multiple roles in the college’s enrollment division. Mr. Preston recently chaired the college’s first year of a multi-year Strategic Enrollment Planning (SEP) process, and several years ago led the college’s rebranding efforts, including refreshing the college’s athletics brand. Mr. Preston served on an NCAA Task Force, and then was the chair of the NCAA Division III Financial Aid Committee, during the period when the Division was instituting the division-wide reporting process.

Education

Mr. Preston obtained his associate of arts degree from North Idaho College, his bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from Linfield College, and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Western Washington University. He also attended the Harvard University Institute for Educational Management.
