Matt Barnes joined RNL in 2009 as a creative writer in the enrollment management division and currently serves as copy director overseeing RNL’s enrollment writing team, closely coordinating with a graphic design team of the same size.
In his time as a leader on the team, the RNL Creative Services department has won 35 Educational Advertising Awards, including gold medal finishes in the Integrated Marketing, Website, and New Media categories.
Mr. Barnes thrives working with the talented creative team, valuing personable copy and captivating design in order to make an emotional connection to drive action. It’s a creative team mantra that “authentic messaging drives genuine interest.” That approach has guided him on projects that generated double-digit percentage increases in applications and have helped struggling colleges keep their doors open.
Mr. Barnes holds his bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in English from Cornell College (IA) and an MBA from the University of Dubuque (IA). He is currently pursuing professional marketing certifications.
