Seeking to better engage prospective students and provide users with a better web experience, the University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) worked with Ruffalo Noel Levitz to redesign its campus website.


The project began with a comprehensive analysis of the current site. This research focused on the needs and expectations of current students, prospective students, and parents. Faculty and staff provided input for academic program pages and functionality important for internal campus users. The new design provided improved navigation, architecture, and copy that fully engages both internal and external users. Additionally, the features the university was able to provide to campus web editors were enhanced by the partnership between Ruffalo Noel Levitz and OmniUpdate, the provider of UT Tyler’s content management system.

  • The addition of a “mega-menu” on the new site has received great reviews. The drop-down menu features information including photos and videos.
  • Because a positive web experience is so important to prospective students, the university expects to see an increase in enrollment.
