Aaron Mahl, Vice President and Consultant

Dr. Aaron Mahl possesses broad knowledge and experience in all areas of enrollment management including recruitment, retention, marketing, and the strategic use of financial aid. He joined Ruffalo Noel Levitz as part of the Scannell & Kurz division in 2013. Before joining the firm, Dr. Mahl served as chief admissions officer at Trinity International University (IL) where he managed undergraduate admissions enrollment. There, Dr. Mahl championed a collaborative and data-driven approach to student recruitment, reaching out universitywide in an effort to grow enrollment. Dr. Mahl was also heavily involved in financial aid strategies, marketing, and strategic planning while at Trinity.  


Dr. Mahl's passion and commitment to higher education extends to the classroom. He holds a master's degree in higher education from the University of Dayton (OH) and a PhD in higher education from Azusa Pacific University (CA). His dissertation was a phenomenological study of executive college leaders who successfully navigated receiving a vote of no confidence from their faculty. During his doctoral program, Dr. Mahl also conducted research on student success and the role of curiosity in high-achieving students.

Dr. Mahl is a frequent writer for University Business magazine and presents regularly at conferences for the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), ACT, and NACCAP. He resides in Dayton, OH with his wife and two children.
