Mary PerkinsDr. Mary Perkins consults for Ruffalo Noel Levitz from her position as associate dean, communications and behavioral sciences at Elgin Community College (IL). She has served as an enrollment professional since 1995 and offers expertise in enrollment management, student retention, strategic planning, and institutional research.

In her current position at Elgin Community College, Dr. Perkins supports full- and part-time faculty in the communications and behavioral sciences division. This includes coordinating division planning, student learning assessment, supporting instructional coordinators, evaluating faculty, and assisting with faculty development. She also provides leadership for the developmental reading and writing programs. Prior to this role, as director of student and academic effectiveness, she coordinated the annual strategic planning for the college's academic and student development divisions while also using data and dialogue with campus staff and faculty to inform decision making. As the college's associate dean for enrollment management, Dr. Perkins provided leadership for the college's recruitment and retention efforts. Examples of her work includes implementing recruitment best practices, leading the college's student success course, and establishing the college's first year experience program to weave together essential programming and communications. Her efforts in these roles were instrumental in the college's recognition as an Achieving the Dream Leader College as well as a Bellweather recipient.

Prior to her arrival at Elgin Community College, Dr. Perkins was the institutional research manager and the director of enrollment services at Rock Valley College (IL). She began her career in enrollment management as the recruitment and retention manager at Waubonsee Community College (IL).

Presentations and education

Dr. Perkins has presented at a number of state and national conferences, including the Higher Learning Commission's annual conference and the National Conference on Student Recruitment, Marketing, and Retention. She received her EdD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, her master of education from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and her bachelor's from North Central College (IL). She also holds a graduate certificate in Postsecondary Developmental Literacy and Language Instruction.
