Ruffalo Noel Levitz consultant Jon ChristiansenDr. Jon Christiansen is the chief intelligence officer and principal at Sparks Research, Clemson, SC, a full-service marketing research and business intelligence company. Prior to acquiring Sparks Research, Dr. Christiansen served as the director of modeling and analytics for the same company.

As a consultant in the field of higher education for more than a decade, Dr. Christiansen has conducted more than 40 consulting engagements. His specialties include market research; enrollment forecasting; product, concept, and program development; marketing strategy; and econometric modeling.

Dr. Christiansen teaches graduate-level courses in research methods, knowledge management, and consulting for education and industry for Clemson University’s department of educational and organizational leadership development, and serves on several doctoral dissertation committees each year as an expert in research methods. In support of his teaching efforts, Dr. Christiansen is certified as a Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) and a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).

Presentations and Education

As an active participant in the academic and professional development community, Dr. Christiansen has published his research in trade journals and academic journals, notably Quirk’s Marketing Research Review and The Leadership Quarterly. Additionally, he has presented research at several academic and professional conferences, including: the Academy of Management, the American Educational Research Association, the University Council for Educational Administration, and the National Academic Advising Association.

Dr. Christiansen holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in economics from Clemson University and a PhD in higher education from Clemson University. Additionally, Dr. Christiansen served as a summer institute scholar for the Center for Computational Analysis of Social and Organizational Systems (CASOS) at Carnegie Mellon University. Post-doctorate, Dr. Christiansen’s research yielded several award nominations, most notably the Bobby Wright Research Award, recognizing works that “serve as exemplary models of the methodology employed.”
