Dr. J. Jeffrey Jones

Dr. J. Jeffrey Jones currently serves as vice provost at the University of Central Florida (UCF), the nation’s second-largest university with over 64,000 students. There, he has responsibility for 10 regional campuses, two additional instructional sites, has a significant role in online learning (UCF Online), and has responsibility for the university’s Division of Continuing Education. UCF is well known for its innovative transfer program, DirectConnect to UCF, a program for which Dr. Jones has operational responsibility. Over 50 percent of all current UCF students have transferred in from other institutions.

Dr. Jones holds an appointment as a Graduate Faculty Scholar at UCF, and has taught courses in organizational, interpersonal, and mass communications at Purdue University (IN).

Prior to his appointment at UCF, Dr. Jones served as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Indiana University South Bend. IU South Bend is the third largest of IU’s eight campuses. He also served as chief enrollment and marketing officer at Purdue University North Central (now known as Purdue Northwest), a regional campus in the Purdue University system.  


A first-generation college student, Dr. Jones earned a PhD in Higher Education from Purdue University (IN), a Master of Arts degree in Communication from Purdue University Calumet (IN), and a bachelor’s degree in English from St. Joseph’s College (IN).
